The 28,000 Units New Myvi

Exactly a month ago, we delivered the 18,000th new Myvi to a lucky Mr. Wong Was Cheng. Today, we delivered the 28,000th new Myvi to yet another lucky customer. This is exactly 4 months since we launched the 3rd Generation Myvi.

No excuse, we are struggling to deliver to as many as possible of the 60,000 bookings collected thus far. It is a daunting task but we are committed to give the best to our customers. The production is in full swing with proper variant ratio now  adjusted according to outstanding booking. Currently, 80 percent of the order are for 1.5L with higher percentage is still on the AV variant.

Based on current order bank and the rate we are going; we foresee that the new booking made in March will only be receiving their cars in June 2017. Meaning, for those who wish to drive  the new Myvi for Raya (Puasa), now is the time to make the booking.

The new Myvi is set to be a new phenomenon, just like its predecessor. People often ask why Myvi has been so successful? The answer remains the same, past and now, that Myvi is a model that suit everyone’s requirements. All walks of life. All genders. All Malaysians. The new Myvi alike, is designed to make the older owners; not too young and the younger owners; not too old. The features are admittedly at par with other premium cars, except that they came at a very affordable price.

Delivering 28,000 units in 120 days can be considered a new record too. 10,000 units were delivered over the last 30 days alone.

For the balance of 32,000 bookings in the waiting, we thank you for your kind understanding. Rest assured, we are doing our very best to expedite your cars. For Malaysians, we thank you for your supports.

As of now, the most popular out of 6 colour choices that new Myvi has to offer is the S43 or the Granite Grey with almost 31 percent booking. The second in line is the Lava Red (R69) with 22 percent booking and followed by Glittering Silver (S28) with 19 percent booking. The Granite Grey is exclusively for 1.5L, whilst the others are available for both 1.5L and 1.3L variants. Peppermint Green (G60)is the exclusive colour for 1.3L.

For me, I am humbly touched with the huge acceptance of our latest amazing baby. To us, You Matter Most. Always.

Fabulous February

February 2018 seems to end with no major improvement for the Malaysian automotive market. The sentiment was still weak and not fully recovered from the slow down of the last quarter, despite the many offering by OEMs in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. The already short working month worsened with the festive holiday in the middle of the month. Typically, February has always been a slow month for automotive sales but last month was lower than any February month in the past few years.

The TIV for the month of February was forecasted (pending official announcement by MAA) to be slightly above 41,000 units or 3, 525 units lower than what was recorded in January. Year-To-Date (YTD) TIV until end February was expected to be around 85,625 units compared to 87,122 units for the same period in 2017. This reflects a drop of 1.7 percent, thus affecting the potential of reaching an annual TIV of 590,000 units this year, assuming market is not recovering rapid enough through out the year.

Most of the brands are expected to record a decline from their January’s performance except for Perodua and Toyota. With the exception of Perodua too, all brands are expected to be registering lower than what they did during the same period in 2017.

Perodua, on the other hand continues to do well in the month of February following the strong start in January 2018. Despite a weaker market, Perodua managed to register 17,137 units in February, just 500 units lower than January. Based on record, it is the second highest of February achievement since inception. The highest sales for the month of February was recorded in 2015.

Tentatively (until official announcement by MAA), Perodua expect to secure 41.7 percent market share in February 2018, the highest ever in Perodua history. Yes, Myvi continues to spear Perodua’s performance but all its other models have done equally well last month.

For me, February was one fabulous month to Peroduans. It did not come easy but with right and effective planning and executions, the result shows.
